Policy Statements

Students, Parents and Teachers: BE INFORMED! Check out these policies about libraries and reading.

BCSD Board Policies

The following policies have been adopted by the Board of Education and the Bakersfield City School District, and are in place in all district elementary, junior high and middle schools.

  • Internet Use Policy A copy of this Internet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is distributed to each Compton student at the beginning of the school year. A student may use the Internet on campus ONLY if a signed copy of the AUP is on file in the library. View these printable documents in English or in Spanish.

  • Material Selection Policy
The books, videos and other instructional materials used in the classroom and the library are carefully selected according to board and district approved criteria.
  • Material Reconsideration Policy
Occasionally, a parent, student or community group will object to a material used on campus, and will ask that the use of that material be reconsidered.
