COMPTON JUNIOR HIGH GRADUATION BULLETIN

TO:  PARENTS OF GRADUATES

 Graduation will take place at East Bakersfield High School in the large gymnasium, May 29, 2008 at 10:30 in the morning.  Students must not go to school that day.  Instead, they will report to East High in the designated line up area on the Mt. Vernon side of the building.  Parking is limited and available in the Kern Medical Center
Parking lot.  No limousines will be allowed to drop off or pick up students on Mt. Vernon side.  The East High security and law enforcement will be monitoring traffic since school is in session for school students and Washington graduates immediately before Compton.

 8th grade graduates may wear luau clothes Friday, May 23rd.  They will receive 4 tickets for graduation after the luau. Extra tickets will be distributed two at a time on Tuesday, May 27th starting at 7:30 in the morning to parents/guardians of graduates only.   No one will be admitted to graduation without a ticket and the doors will be closely monitored.  This is to ensure the safety of all people attending.   In the past the gymnasium has been filled to capacity. There will be a designated place for wheelchairs and very elderly guests in the front. Guests are reminded to remain seated until graduates have all exited safely.

 Graduates received a letter from the district describing appropriate clothing for students.  This is a reminder that students must wear clothes that are appropriate for this occasion.  No flowers, hats, gloves or tuxedoes are allowed.  Ladies are to be careful with shoes that are too high.  If there are questions please call the counselors at 631-5230 for more information.  

 May 16th is the Honors Award Assembly where the highest community and academic awards are given.   Parents of these students have been notified. On Wednesday, May 28th, there will be an 8th grade dance.  ONLY 8TH GRADE GRADUATES MAY WEAR REGULAR CLOTHES ON THIS DAY.  They may donate two uniform items in the morning to help pay for the dance or pay $2. Other activities will be available.  May 28th will be the last 8th grade graduation practice and awards.  This will be long, with many medals and certificates given.  The school will have a dance in the afternoon.
